Showcased at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show, the Sony Xperia Z is now in the shops and has come back from our labs with excellent results.   The latest entry in the Japanese manufacturer’s growing range of Android smartphones, the Xperia Z is a high-spec phone with a sleek and slim design that is able to withstand life’s bumps and knocks.

Impressive Specifications

The Sony Xperia Z boasts some impressive specifications including a powerful 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM that make it very speedy when browsing the web and mean that it doesn’t slow down if you have lots of apps running at the same time.   With a five-inch touchscreen, this phone may feel rather big to those used to the more compact iPhone-sized devices, but the advantage is that the large display makes text easy to read, web pages look great, and the onscreen keys more comfortable to use.  The display itself is excellent, boasting 1920 x 1080 resolution, which is equal to the resolution offered by many large screen TVs.  At 147g, it is a little heavier than many other smartphones – but nothing that will weigh you down too much.   It comes with 16 GB of storage capacity – although only 11.7GB is available to users – and this can be expanded using the micro SD slot.
