For film buffs looking to take full advantage of the high-definition capabilities of new TVs, a Blu-ray player may be just the ticket.

All the Blu-ray players in our current batch of tests deliver an outstanding performance in terms of picture quality when playing high-definition Blu-ray discs, so when deciding on our Choice Buy awards we also looked at such factors as how easy these devices are to use and what additional features they offer.   New Blu-ray players can often do more than play movies, and, as with almost all home entertainment equipment today, many models come with some sort of connectivity built in.  This means that for anyone who does not own a smart TV, buying the right Blu-ray player could be a cheap way of adding internet-enabled features to your current TV set.
